How to Install Hollow Wall Anchors
1. Select the Correct Hollow Wall Anchor
Choose a hollow wall anchor that matches the wall thickness, fixture thickness, and load requirements. Hollow wall anchors are commonly used in drywall, plaster, and other hollow wall materials. Shop hollow wall anchors from Springs Fastener.
2. Gather Required Tools and Safety Gear
You will need a drill, a drill bit sized to the anchor, a screwdriver or drill driver, and possibly a setting tool depending on the anchor style. Wear safety glasses during installation.
3. Mark the Mounting Location
Position the fixture and mark the hole location on the wall. Ensure the location is clear of electrical wiring or plumbing behind the wall.
4. Drill the Hole
Drill a straight hole at the marked location using the recommended drill bit size. Drill cleanly to avoid damaging the surrounding wall material.
5. Insert the Hollow Wall Anchor
Insert the anchor into the hole until the flange rests against the wall surface. Some hollow wall anchors are inserted through the fixture, while others are installed first.
6. Set the Anchor
Tighten the screw to expand the anchor behind the wall, or use a setting tool if required. The anchor will clamp tightly against the backside of the wall.
7. Secure the Fixture
Once the anchor is set, tighten the screw until the fixture is secure. Do not over-tighten, as this can damage the wall or anchor.
8. Final Inspection
Confirm the anchor is properly set and the fixture is firmly mounted with no movement. The hollow wall anchor installation is complete.
