A Torx drive is a screw drive style with a six-point, star-shaped recess designed to provide a secure, high-torque connection between the bit and the fastener. Torx sizes are designated with a “T” number, such as T10, T15, T20, T25, T30, and so on. Because the bit fits deeply and engages multiple surfaces, Torx drives reduce slippage compared to many traditional cross-recess drives.

Torx is popular in automotive, machinery, electronics, and construction applications where consistent torque transfer and fast installation matter. The design helps minimize cam-out (bit ejection under load), which can reduce stripped heads and damaged bits and improve repeatability in production work. Some Torx fasteners use security Torx (also called tamper-resistant Torx), which includes a small pin in the center of the recess and requires a matching bit with a hole to install or remove the fastener.
