How to Install Plastic Anchors

1. Select the Correct Plastic Anchor

Choose a plastic anchor that matches the screw size, load requirements, and wall material. Plastic anchors are commonly used in drywall, plaster, masonry, and light-duty concrete applications. Shop plastic anchors and plastic anchor kits from Springs Fastener.

2. Gather Required Tools and Safety Gear

You will need a drill, a drill bit sized to the plastic anchor, a hammer, and a screwdriver or drill driver. Wear safety glasses during installation.

3. Mark the Mounting Location

Position the fixture and mark the hole location on the wall or surface. Verify the location is clear of wiring or plumbing.

4. Drill the Hole

Drill a straight hole at the marked location using the correct bit size. Drill to the recommended depth so the anchor will sit flush with the surface.

5. Insert the Plastic Anchor

Push the plastic anchor into the hole. If needed, lightly tap it with a hammer until it is flush with the surface.

6. Install the Screw

Place the fixture over the anchor and drive the screw into the anchor. As the screw is tightened, the plastic anchor expands to grip the surrounding material.

7. Tighten Securely

Tighten the screw until the fixture is secure. Avoid over-tightening, which can strip the anchor or damage the wall.

8. Final Inspection
